Grupo Folclorico e Cultural Dancas e Cantares de Carreco (GFCDCC) is a cultural association born on August 6, 1974 after its first public performance in the festivities of Meadela, a local village.
The main aims of the GFCDCC after its formation are the promotion, investigation, defense and divulgation of historical, artistic, anthropological and cultural values of the region of Viana do Castelo, and more specifically those values concerning the village of Carreço. This reflects the desire and ambition of its members when presenting the folklore of their home town in different activities, such as festivities, fairs and folklore festivals in Portugal and around the world. It is with immense pride that the GFCDCC maintains the concern with continuity of the folklore traditions inherited from the inhabitants of Carreço from long time ago.
